DESCRIPTION
The Berkel L model slicer was designed between 1907 and 1916 and is without a doubt the most built machine. It is also the first to be exported from the Netherlands. The model was first distributed in Italy by the Milanese retailer Bach & Co and then also in South America, where – in the same years – Berkel Argentina was born. The machine, which is similar in many respects to the Berkel C and D models (the first were built in 1898), has a clockwork driven by a flower-shaped flywheel, the carriage rests on four wheels and is guided by a plate that sinks into the housing; the upper clamp is held between two racks and is also moved forward by the worm screw system, controlled by a numbered rod. The blade, with a diameter of 350 mm, is mounted on the round shoulder to which the metal tray and the plate are attached. The plate varies according to the country of purchase. At the top of the shoulder we find the knife sharpener, consisting of several chrome-plated parts, all visible and without a casing.Frequently Asked Questions
